About PMX UK
PMX UK is a market place where sale and purchase can be made of items that are left over from jobs or are hard to get hold of and furthermore reclaimed materials for conservation area works.
It has been developed to assist the industry in many ways. For years it has been normal practice to throw materials away at the end of each job, as to store can be more expensive than buying materials for the next job, which has no real cost implication as most of the time the cost of new materials is built into the next jobs budget. This traditional way of working not only is bad for the environment, but is also a waste of perfectly good materials that could be used on other jobs, possibly by another builder, following the old saying, “one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure”
From experience when working within conservation areas or on heritage property, there is a requirement to replace or build new using like for like materials and in most cases original materials. Of course there are reclamation yards scattered around the country that deal in these materials, but with the increasing requirement for land redevelopment we are seeing more and more these reclamation yards being sold off for redevelopment.
Recycling in many ways is key to maintaining an already perishing environment and the norm is, to recycle comes at a cost. By using PMX UK, no longer does recycling need to cost money to the builder but can in fact make money giving the incentive to reduce on skips and rubbish clearance in general. How many builders would throw away loads of copper or lead when they know they can easily cash this in at the local scrap metal yard. The same is with balustrade sections, bricks, doors, roof tiles, slabs ironmongry etc, etc, etc. I’m sure we all remember the old corona fizzy drink bottles that you could cash in for 10pence a bottle when we were kids, how many corona bottles did you smash when you were a kid?
PMX UK is also useful for wholesalers and retailers to sell to a wide audience of dedicated building / construction trade personnel and an opportunity to sell surplus stock and end of line materials that if required by an end user and are no longer available could be the difference between a repair or patch in and the total replacement of an entire product i.e. replacement of a broken tile or replacement of a broken handle?
The benefits of PMX UK are endless and our primary goal is to make life easier for all users of our materials exchange market place and by creating a reusing and passing on of surplus materials and equipment way of thinking, will ultimately increase potential profits for the builder and help us all to keep working towards more recycling to help our environment.
